Why is network security important?
IT security, Network security, Cyber security – the threat has many names and comes in many variants but it is probably one of the biggest threats to your business. Examples include ransomware, phishing, data leakage and hacking.
Whether through malicious attack, malware or negligent employees not following security policy, businesses need to protect data and information assets.
Taking proactive steps to prevent IT security problems is far better than having to react to them. Taking steps such as:
- Multi-factor authentication on devices so a lost device cannot be accessed and there’s no data breach
- Using VPN technology
- Adding EndPoint security to all mobile devices to separate data and enable it to be wiped if needed
- Improved WiFi security, including a separate Guest network, to stop access or infection
- User training on how to identify a phishing email and what action to take
- Keeping your malware and anti-virus applications up to date to combat the ever-changing threat
